How to Organize your Google Calendar π
Something I use religiously is my Google Calendar. I even share it with my Husband so he knows what we have planned for the upcoming months. Utilizing the Google Calendar is a great form of communication and a great way to keep yourself organized (especially during the busy seasons). I’ll show you how I manage my daily calendar, and I will also show you how to create your calendar to align with your aesthetic. The goal is to make you want to open your calendar, not avoid it!!

π Sign Up!!
Before we get started, you will need to have a Google account created. If yours is already created, then well done! You are already ahead of the game. Once you sign up, head over to Google Calendar.
When you first open your Google Calendar, you are automatically greeted with its default calendar categories:
- (Your Name)
- Birthdays
- Tasks
- Holidays in the United States (This may vary by region).
You will also notice that these calendar categories are set to the default Google Calendar Colors: Peacock, Sage, Cobalt, and Basil. It is worth noting that these calendars are default and cannot be removed. We will discuss ways to incorporate them into our calendar!

The default can feel quite boring and plain (GROSS). Your calendar should be a source of positivity and motivation for your everyday life. You want to open this daily to check it, not dread it. Let’s spice it up, shall we?
πͺͺ Name Your Calendars
First and foremost, you will want to name your calendars! These names should be fun and familiar. I highly recommend creating at least one calendar for your non-negotiable time. These are momemnts that are dedicated to yourself and cannot be rescheduled.
Here is how I named my calendars. You do not have to use my suggestions, but you are more than welcome to if you’d like!
| Category | Example Name | Description |
|---|---|---|
| π Tasks | Default | For items that auto-link or sync |
| βοΈ Work | Daily Schedule | My 8β5 job hours |
| β¨ Me Time | Self-Care | My personal, non-negotiable time |
| π‘ Home | Chores & Errands | Cleaning, walking the dog, etc. |
| ποΈ Events + Appts | Appointments | Any events or meetings |
| π Birthdays | Friends + Family | Birthday reminders |
| π Book Club | Reading & Meetings | Monthly schedule + tasks |
| ποΈ Travel + Activities | Vacations | Trips and fun plan |
π‘Pro tip: Incorporate those emojies to your titles! They make your calendar look and feel more fun.
π¨ Customize Your Color Pallette
Now that the calendars are named, it is time to color code them!
Choose a color palette that reflects your personality or your ideal mood, whether thatβs soft and cozy, bold and energizing, or clean and minimalist. I enjoy viewing soft, cozy colors. They help me remain calm and centralized when I have a busy schedule (especial days full of socializing!!)
Here are my HEX codes:
| Calendar | Color | HEX Code |
|---|---|---|
| π Tasks | Dusty Rose | #E67C73 |
| βοΈ Work | Soft Teal | #75A1AA |
| β¨ Me Time | Blush Mauve | #B28494 |
| π‘ Home | Sage Green | #7CA278 |
| ποΈ Events + Appts | Lavender Blue | #6A72A6 |
| π Birthdays | Golden Beige | #B1B076 |
| π Book Club | Ocean Green | #009688 |
| ποΈ Travel + Activities | Aqua | #2DA4B9 |
Start Scheduling!
Once youβve customized your setup, start adding events!
You can auto-schedule recurring tasks that happen regularly like work hours, weekly chores, or monthly appointments. For example, my work schedule is set for weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., so it automatically appears on my calendar.
Donβt make your calendar too strict. Leave some breathing room. The goal is to help you stay organized, not stressed.
As you grow more comfortable with your setup, donβt be afraid to tweak things. Change colors, rename categories, or reorganize how you label tasks. Everyoneβs rhythm is different, and your calendar should evolve with you.

Your Google Calendar isnβt just a productivity tool. Itβs your personal space to balance life, work, and self-care. Make it beautiful, make it functional, and most importantly, make it yours. πͺ΄
